Five Sigma Chi Seniors say their final farewell

University of Memphis seniors and members of the Delta Iota pledge class of Sigma Chi will graduate in May. These five men were both heavily involved on campus as well as the Fraternity. Sigma Chi wishes these men good luck and a congratulations.

One night a year the Epsilon Kappa chapter social room, is covered from floor to ceiling in black tarps covered with neon spray paint, decorated by the lovely sorority girls from the University of Memphis. Turn the black lights on, the music up, wear some neon, and let the night begin!

Delta Omicron Pledge Class is Initiated

The Epsilon Kappa chapter recently initiated one of its largest pledge classes in the chapters history. The twenty one new initiates included a scholarship athlete, multiple Emerging Leaders, Up ‘Til Dawn members, Student Government members, Seven Helen Hardin Honors Program students, as well as Blue Crew Members supporting the Tigers! Sigma Chi welcomes their new brothers. I present the Delta Omicron pledge class of the Epsilon Kappa chapter of Sigma Chi.

Each year, at the Balfour Leadership Training Workshop, Sigma Chi headquarters recognizes individual undergraduate and alumni chapters for their exceptional acheivement in certain areas of chapter operations. At this year’s awards ceremony, the Epsilon Kappa Chapter at the University of Memphis was recognized for the following:

Peterson Significant Award (Given to the Top 10% of Sigma Chi Chapters)

Epsilon Kappa has been awarded this honor 7 of the past 8 years!

Legion of Honor Award (Awarded to Top 3 Scholarship Programs in all of Sigma Chi)

Epsilon Kappa has received this prestigious award 4 of the past 6 years!

Outstanding Housing Corp/Alumni Chapter (Given to Top Alumni Chapters in all of Sigma Chi)

Brothers attend Leadership Training Workshop

Every summer, Sigma Chi hosts the largest leadership conference in the Greek World: Balfour Leadership Training Workshop (BLTW). This year, 8 of our active brothers were able to attend the workshop and learn more about cultivating leadership within our local chapter. At the conference, our members were able to reconnect with the ritual, receive detailed training on officer responsibilities, and develop a strategic plan for the chapter. This is always a great time to share our best practices with other chapters and help learn from them in order to improve our own operations. All the while, we are able to connect with over 1700 Sigma Chi’s across the North America.

First Cookout for 2011 Summer Rush

Spring Formal in New Orleans

Each year, we host our Spring Formal at the Royal St. Charles Hotel in downtown New Orleans, LA. It is such a great time to get away for a few days and enjoy time with the rest of the chapter and dates. Our actual formal takes place on the first night and then the next day is a great time for members and guests to enjoy the attractions, shopping, and activities that the city of New Orleans has to offer!
